years of technology management experience; fourteen at Hagerstown
recent experience involved reviving the aging IT (information
technology) of Saint James School, St. James, Maryland, a small
traditional boarding school in the English Anglican tradition. A new
campus network was completed then extended and all computing equipment
and software was upgraded. New technology was introduced to the faculty
for inclusion into the curriculum. As the only technology person on
campus, I am fully responsible for all hardware and software systems
installation and support. I also plan the school’s technology
direction and do all budgeting, specification, and purchasing of
equipment, supplies, maintenance, and software.
most recent experience includes creation and implementation of a
long-range technology plan to revise and replace all campus computing
resources for Hagerstown Junior College (now Hagerstown Community
College). Included was responsibility for all aspects of campus
computing and networking both administrative and academic. During my
tenure, the college moved from a backward, uninspired, and detached
computing posture into a position of near leading edge technology. The
college used state-of-the-art technology and was very well connected
locally and worldwide. Students and instructional staff enjoyed computer
tools at least equal to those of the administrative users.
